News from TAB - TAB Updates DEC for 2005-2006

Every September, other consumer media update their population base for the new media year. As per the new audit process, we are implementing a similar procedure that is a milestone for TAB and the industry. Each year, every count will be updated. These updates will either take the form of a brand new count just released from the local authority, or be the result of a “growth factor” application. Growth factors are the estimates of today’s traffic used commonly by DOTs.

The new DEC’s derived from these counts have been released to www.tabonline.com toward the end of this month. Typically, the counts are grown somewhere between 1 and 2 percent on average. These adjustments are performed at a county level where feasible and a DMA level where it’s not feasible. Every year starting next year, TAB will be updating by hand a percentage of counts and applying growth factors to the rest. We will manually visit every count over a period of a few cycles (years).
